When Daylen Austin committed to LSU a couple of weeks ago, my mind immediately went to: who’s next? Austin is still taking an official visit to Michigan State this month, but it feels like he’s off the table at cornerback and that means Mel Tucker will have to prioritize others.

Chance Rucker has been a priority all along, but he may have moved up the list with Austin committing to Brian Kelly and LSU.

Rucker is ranked the No. 260 prospect in the country and the 27th-best cornerback, according to the composite. He’s high on TCU, Nebraska, Florida, Cal, Baylor, Arkansas, and the Spartans. This won’t be an easy recruitment to win, but Tucker can sell him on being that CB1 in the 2023 class.

The four-star cornerback from Denton, Texas, currently has two official visits scheduled to Michigan State (June 3) and Arkansas (June 10) and I like where the Spartans stand here. He has great size at 6-1, 180 pounds and would be the ideal addition to the defensive backfield.
