If you were paying attention to the crystal ball trends on 247Sports over the past week, you’d know that Michigan State was trending heavily for four-star safety Ryan Yaites.

The four-star defensive back from Texas is one of the top players on the board for Michigan State and the Spartans are pushing hard for his commitment. Mel Tucker has put in plenty of work here and there’s a reason the crystal balls all favor his Spartans.

Yaites is planning to take a trip up to East Lansing for the spring game on April 16 and I wouldn’t be shocked if there was a commitment watch that weekend with him.

Michigan State, LSU, Texas Tech, and Cal are all in the running for Yaites but it’s starting to look like the Spartans and Red Raiders are in the lead here. If Tucker is able to seal the deal on April 16, they should feel good about the defensive outlook of this 2023 class.

Yaites is the No. 131 overall recruit in the class and the seventh-best safety, according to the composite. He would be a huge addition.
