1. Fiesta Bowl (vs. Notre Dame)

This would easily be the most intriguing of all the bowl scenarios for the Spartans.

As mentioned before, the Fiesta Bowl is slightly more prestigious than the Peach Bowl because it is on New Year’s Day and it would likely be against an elite opponent like Notre Dame. In the best-case scenario, Michigan State and Notre Dame would meet up in the Fiesta Bowl and there’s a good chance this would be one of the most-watched matchups in this bowl game ever.

If the Fiesta Bowl wants to maximize its viewership, it would undoubtedly lock up Notre Dame and Michigan State for a Jan. 1 matchup.

Most of the projections I’ve seen have the Spartans in the Fiesta Bowl and it’s either between Oklahoma State or Notre Dame, but since the latter is a rivalry game that hasn’t taken place since 2017, it would be a huge win for everyone involved.

Plus, a matchup with Notre Dame would be more intriguing because the two teams match up well and the Irish are featuring a brand-new head coach in Marcus Freeman.

If the Fiesta Bowl selection committee has a heart, it will fight for Notre Dame vs. MSU.
