Michigan State Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Maryland in Week 11
1. Both teams score over 30 points
Unfortunately for Michigan State, Maryland likes to throw the ball.
The Terrapins actually average 316 yards per game passing which is bad news for the Spartans because they now own the worst pass defense in college football. Michigan State actually surrenders, on average, 326 yards per game through the air. That’s bad. Like really bad.
Harlon Barnett has to figure something out because Taulia Tagovailoa and this offense may throw the ball 60 times on Saturday evening.
Maryland doesn’t like to run the ball a ton and that’s pretty smart because the Spartans have a fairly solid run defense. But the pass defense leaves a ton to be desired.
For this reason, I think the Terrapins break the 30-point threshold.
Fortunately, Michigan State has a solid offense, and thanks to Payton Thorne’s best game in weeks and Kenneth Walker III’s third straight 100-yard game, the Spartans, too, will break 30 points.
Michigan State wins a shootout, 41-31.
