Michigan State Basketball: 5 bold predictions for 2021-22 season
2. Gabe Brown will be named All-Big Ten first-teamer
Only one player averaged in double figures in the scoring column a year ago as Aaron Henry was forced to put the team on his back in order to make the NCAA Tournament. This year, I can see the scoring being far more balanced, but Gabe Brown is going to lead the way.
I think the Spartans will have 3-4 guys, at least, averaging at least 10 points per game and my best guesses would be Brown, Max Christie, Tyson Walker, and Joey Hauser. Marcus Bingham Jr., too, could reach double digits while I think we’ll see a nice jump from Malik Hall.
But Brown will be the star of the team and Christie will be the Robin to his Batman.
After averaging a career-best 7.2 points per game in 2020-21, Brown is going to double that production in the scoring column and average 15 points and over five rebounds per game. He’ll be a vastly improved all-around player and he’ll make the All-Big Ten first team.
Brown has NBA potential written all over him and he’s going to improve his stock with an all-conference type of season.
