Michigan State Football: 3 bold predictions for tricky battle at Purdue
1. Michigan State wins turnover battle, and ultimately the game
I’ve been saying this all week, but if Michigan State wins the turnover battle against Purdue, the Spartans should win the game rather easily.
Purdue is a tough team and the Boilermakers have been known to force turnovers and you know they’ll be looking to do just that on Saturday. If Michigan State takes care of the ball and gives the Boilermakers a taste of their own medicine, I think the Spartans win this one by 10-plus points.
That’s a big if, however.
Michigan State is going to win the turnover battle because I don’t think Payton Thorne is going to let the interception bug bite him for a third straight game. He has four picks over his past two games and he’s the type of perfectionist who loses sleep until he fixes something. He’s not going to throw a pick on Saturday.
Plus, Michigan State doesn’t fumble the ball much.
The Spartans, on the other hand, have a habit of coming up with clutch turnovers and I think they’ll do just that, picking off the Boilermakers late to seal a win on the road.
