2. Rutgers has a very average offense

I’m going to put it frankly: Rutgers has a very average offense.

If this is going to be a shootout, the Scarlet Knights are probably not winning because they just don’t have the dogs for it. Plus, they might be without their top receiver Bo Melton which will be a huge hit to that offense that is already light on playmakers.

Aron Cruickshank is still a threat and he had a good game against the Spartans last year, but that will allow the Spartans to focus on him without Melton.

Rutgers averages 350 total yards per game and it has two healthy receivers over 100 yards on the season and just one running back over 100 yards. Noah Vedral has the ability to run and he’s over 100 rushing yards on the season at the quarterback position but he’s prone to turnovers, as he’s thrown three interceptions to six touchdown passes.

The Scarlet Knights rank 91st in passing yards per game, 82nd in rushing yards per game, and 114th in scoring. This offense may not be able to keep up, especially down a top weapon.
