Michigan State Football: 3 reasons Spartans will beat Rutgers in Week 6
1. MSU wants revenge
Revenge is a big aspect of college football. Teams that lose when they beat themselves and feel like they were the better team usually come back with a vengeance.
Michigan State is in revenge mode ahead of Saturday’s contest.
The Spartans may not have been better than the Scarlet Knights last season, but the seven turnovers they had against Rutgers really flipped the script. If Michigan State doesn’t turn the ball over seven times, it probably wins that game and then beats Michigan the following week to improve to 2-0.
We won’t dwell on that loss, though. But you know that Mel Tucker has shown that film to his team this week in order to tell them what not to do.
Michigan State has shown up prepared for most games this season (save maybe Nebraska) and that has led to a 5-0 start and I think the Spartans will be prepared and motivated to take down Rutgers and reach a bowl game.
The goal is to be 7-0 before facing Michigan on Oct. 30 and revenge is the best way to stay motivated to get that done.
