Michigan State Football: Game-by-game predictions for 2021 season
Miami has a heck of a non-conference slate, opening the season with Alabama, App State, and Michigan State so if the Hurricanes are beaten down by this point, I could see the Spartans going on the road to pull off an upset after a 2-0 start of their own, but that won’t be the case.
D’Eriq King is one of the most explosive quarterbacks in the country and will be a load for this newly-acquainted defense. He’s going to cause some problems with his legs and force this 4-2-5 defense to adjust and that’ll eventually lead to some crushing deep balls.
Final Score: Michigan State 21, Miami 35 (2-1)
Coming off their first loss of the season, Michigan State heads back home to take on a Nebraska team that looked really, really bad in the opener against Illinois. Maybe it was just first-game jitters or maybe the Illini are just better than we expected, but either way, the Cornhuskers look like the same team they’ve been for years.
That bodes well for Michigan State here.
Still, I think the Cornhuskers play Michigan State tough and even hold a late lead, but a Payton Thorne touchdown pass to Jayden Reed with just over a minute left seals the deal as Adrian Martinez throws a pick on the next position.
Final Score: Nebraska 27, Michigan State 28 (3-1, 2-0)
