One quarterback in the 2023 class has caught my eye in terms of being Michigan State football’s top target. Dante Moore of Detroit King is one of the best prospects in the entire class and he’s rated as a five-star and is ranked the No. 16 player in 2023 per the composite.

Mel Tucker has his sights set on Moore and coaches one of the top teams in the running for the in-state five-star. Michigan State along with Michigan and Notre Dame, are probably the three teams leading in this recruitment.

Those three are followed up by Ohio State, Penn State, LSU, Florida State, Oregon, Kentucky, and Illinois who have all made an impression early on.

Moore proved just why Michigan State needs to put the full-court press on him during his season-opening win at Carmel (Ind.) High. He finished with 438 yards passing and four touchdowns, leading King’s offense against Carmel, but they lost on a Hail Mary with no time left, 42-40.

Moore’s highlights were truly impressive.

This was what a lot of people who were hesitant to put Moore on top of Michigan State’s 2023 recruiting board needed to see and he should be that No. 1 guy for the Spartans.

Some believed his No. 16 overall ranking in the class and five-star status was a little inflated, given that he hadn’t faced elite competition yet, but his performance against Carmel was a good indication that he’s deserving of that lofty ranking.

Moore proved that he needs to be Michigan State football’s No. 1 target

I have been high on Moore since watching his sophomore year highlights and I wanted him to be Tucker’s No. 1 target at quarterback in the class, but now I’m thinking top priority overall.

The Spartans have Katin Houser in the 2022 class and he’s going to be a good player in East Lansing, but adding some elite depth and a guy who could even push the four-star from the class prior is going to only help the program.

Moore is a special talent and he has the potential to be a superstar in the college ranks. He needs to be Michigan State’s top target.
