A casual football fan might look at Kameron Allen’s recruiting ranking and just assume that he’s not going to be much of anything at the Power Five level other than a depth piece, but if you listen to the coaching staff this spring and watch his highlights, you’ll realize that the sky is the limit for the young freshman tight end from Texas.

Allen is a 6-5, 220-pound athletic tight end from Forney, Texas, who had been dubbed “the leader of the tight end room” this spring by the staff. That’s a wild development for a freshman.

Enrolling early and getting the playbook down is a good sign for a freshman, but when he’s commanding respect from veterans at the position, it just goes to show just how special he is and how high his ceiling really is.

You probably expected to see Ma’a Gaoteote at this No. 1 spot or at least on this list and while I think the Spartans’ highest-ranked 2021 commit has a bright future in East Lansing, I believe he’ll be more of a rotational piece as a freshman. Allen has a chance to be ‘the guy’ from day one.
