Michigan State Football: 3 summer enrollees who could start in 2021
Quavaris Crouch was once one of the top running back recruits in the country. In fact, he was listed as the third-best athlete prospect in the 2019 class and he was a top-75 recruit in the nation out of Charlotte, N.C., before picking Tennessee
Jeremy Pruitt believed in him as a linebacker and both sides wanted to make the position change because Crouch felt it was better for the longevity of his playing career.
Crouch played quite a bit over his first two seasons and even assumed a starting linebacker role for the Volunteers. He totaled 85 tackles, three tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, and three pass deflections over 22 games and many believed that he could have been a star had he gotten better coaching in Knoxville.
Now that he’s in East Lansing with an up-and-coming defensive coordinator in Scottie Hazelton combined with Mel Tucker’s defensive mind, Crouch should excel.
Don’t be shocked if Crouch is an immediate starter, which he should be, in a position group that needs a leader and an experienced performer. He may be the best linebacker on the team already.
