It was tough to pick between Chester Kimbrough and Ronald Williams, but I think the former has the slight upper hand although there’s a good chance both could be starters when the season kicks off in early September.

Kimbrough was once a decently sought-after high school recruit who ultimately chose Florida but didn’t play a ton with the Gators. In fact, he appeared in 11 games over two years and had 15 total tackles and three pass deflections. The Gators had been known for churning out top defensive backs, however, and the lack of early playing time wasn’t shocking.

Getting a fresh start at a program that needs somewhat experienced defensive backs after losing a slew of guys to the transfer portal and another to the NFL (Shakur Brown) could end up being a huge win for Kimbrough’s career trajectory.

Mel Tucker liked him enough to bring him in as one of his first transfer additions and he has the potential to be a quality starter in the Big Ten.

I’d be shocked if Kimbrough and Williams don’t form ‘No Fly Zone’ lite.
