Angelo Grose didn’t play all that much at the beginning of the season, but he made the most of the snaps he did get.

Later in the season, Grose took the opportunity to slide into the starting role for the Spartans. Starting four games this past season, Grose looked better than the typical true freshman corner. He recorded a career-high six tackles against Northwestern, making key stops and breaking up passes on the way to an upset win. He also put together good games against Indiana and Ohio State, as well as a five tackle game against Penn State.

The Big Ten is loaded with talented receivers, and Grose will get the chance to line up against them week in and week out. The reps he got in his true freshman season will prove crucial, as he will be much more seasoned and experienced next year. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound sophomore is a tough, physical corner who is not afraid to tackle. He’ll be coached up by Harlon Barnett and Travares Tillman which should do wonders for him.

Michigan State’s depth at the cornerback position looked thin with the departure of Shakur Brown to the NFL Draft, but they added former Florida cornerback Chester Kimbrough in the transfer portal. Having Kimbrough and Grose locking down the outside will re-establish the No Fly Zone that Spartan fans are used to.
