Matt Dotson will be gone and Trenton Gillison has an injury history and he’s still working on his blocking skills so that should open the door for three-star tight end Kameron Allen from Texas.

Playing against elite competition in Texas high school ball, Allen knows what it takes to be a complete tight end and that’s exactly what Jay Johnson wants in his offense. We saw Tyler Hunt stand out as the best tight end this season because of his ability to both block and catch passes and Allen could be the next in line to do just that.

Though he’s ranked just the No. 66 tight end in the class and is a mid-three-star recruit, he’s 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds of athlete. He looks like a receiver right now and runs routes like one, but when he bulks up, he’s going to be a scary threat for opposing defenders.

Try covering a 6-5 tight end who can run like a receiver and who’s a serious jump-ball threat in the end zone. He’s going to be a contender for early playing time, especially since he’s Mel Tucker’s first tight end recruit.

Michigan State needs depth there and Allen will be that and more.
