Michigan State football adds its second prospect to the 2022 class and Gavin Broscious goes in-depth on why he chose the Spartans.

Less than two weeks after offensive lineman Kristian Philips committed to Michigan State, another big lineman joined the 2022 class in Gavin Broscious.

At 6-foot-4, 290pounds, Broscious will play on the interior of the offensive line in East Lansing.

Broscious, a three-star prospect, picked Michigan State over Utah, Nebraska, Minnesota, Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Colorado and others.

Eventually, relationships and family atmosphere are what made Michigan State stand out from the rest. Broscious has never been on campus, yet the staff got him to commit.

“The bond I had with coach (Chris) Kapilovic and coach (Mel) Tucker. They made me feel like I have a second family, and now they are my family,” said Broscious. “I will definitely visit; I’ve done a lot of FaceTime calls with different coaches and staff members.”

Not only did Broscious have a bond with the coaching staff, but he also has been in contact with 2021 defensive lineman commit Tyson Watson.

Michigan State has struggled this season in the run game and getting a commitment from someone like Broscious will make a difference when it comes to pounding the rock, but he also has some things he wants to work on before he makes it to Michigan State.

“Definitely my overall knowledge of the game and just overall athleticism,” Broscious said. “I am a very downhill punch-you-in-the-mouth type player. I specialize in run blocking and pulling.”

The name of the game in college football is recruiting, and Broscious thinks he can help Michigan State in that department now that he is apart of the 2022 class.

“Most definitely, I will be a leader in my class and I’ll try to recruit every dog I can,” he said.

Right now Michigan State is sitting at 1-3, but it’s the start of a rebuild, so recruits understand that coach Tucker is trying to build something in East Lansing. Given that, Broscious wants to be part of what Tucker is creating.

“(Tucker) wants to build a national championship team, and I want to be a part of building it,” Broscious said.

Ranked as the No. 24 offensive guard in the country, Broscious is another great find on the recruiting trail by the staff. Stay tuned, as the 2022 recruiting class is just getting started.
