2. Rocky Lombardi might be a top five Big Ten quarterback

I’ll be the first to admit this: I was wrong. I was talking all about Theo Day becoming the starting quarterback before the season began and I stated that Rocky Lombardi was nothing more than a career backup. Rocky, I’m sorry.

I’m not alone here, though. This was a general consensus among the fanbase and he has exceeded all expectations through two games.

Honestly, I wasn’t sold after his Rutgers performance. He made some poor throws and some questionable decisions but he still finished with over 300 yards and three touchdowns. He responded by having an impressive game against Michigan, showing something he hadn’t in his three years with Michigan State: touch on passes.

Sure, Rocky can sling the ball in tight wings with that cannon for an arm and that had been his issue for a while. He had been known for firing the ball to players right next to him and having no touch on deep passes. Well, we were wrong.

Rocky was able to drop the ball right into the basket on deep throws to Ricky White and Jalen Nailor and his accuracy looks to be improving.

Right now, he’s playing like a top three quarterback in the Big Ten with over 600 yards and six touchdowns in two games and he might literally be a top five quarterback in the league.

Guys, we were wrong.
