3. Michigan State can finish with a winning record

After Michigan State lost to Rutgers, there was plenty of talk of an 0-8 or 0-9 season but after beating Michigan, the entire mindset surrounding the program and fanbase has changed.

Michigan State is 1-1 on the year, exactly where we thought it’d be after two games against Michigan and Rutgers. The one win, however, is not what we expected. Beating Michigan can go a long way for Michigan State.

Dating back to 2010, in every season that Michigan State beat the Wolverines, the Spartans finished with at least 10 wins. That’s insane.

Is it because of momentum generated from the win or is it because those Michigan State teams were actually legit? Probably both. Michigan State usually uses this win over Michigan as a massive confidence-booster and I think we’ll see the same this season.

Mel Tucker generated some serious momentum with Saturday’s win and I don’t think there’s any reason to believe MSU can’t beat Iowa, Maryland, Northwestern and Indiana and potentially steal another win from Penn State. We might be looking at a shocking turnaround.
