Mel Tucker’s 2021 recruiting class finally got started this week, but who else will Michigan State football be targeting in the state of Michigan?

The state of Michigan is absolutely loaded when it comes to the 2021 recruiting cycle. For years, the state has produced some of the top talent in the nation as programs like Ohio State, Kentucky, Penn State and Notre Dame have plucked kids right from Michigan State’s backyard.

Both Michigan and Michigan State have found it increasingly difficult to keep these kids at home with the growing interest from around the Big Ten and the country.

While Mark Dantonio had some of his best recruiting classes when he landed primarily Michigan and Ohio prospects, he struggled in state over the past few cycles. The 2016 class was his best but it’s been downhill from there, for various reasons.

On-field results have been a big issue for the Spartans over the past two seasons as well as in 2016, but Mel Tucker is looking to change that.

The new head coach has been making up some ground with the Spartans’ biggest in-state targets, closing in on some big names. Tucker is still far from done after landing his first commitment from Oak Park, Mich., native Davion Primm, though.

So who tops the list of in-state recruiting targets for MSU?
