Depth along the defensive line has taken a major hit this offseason. Jacub Panasiuk is the lone returning starter, but Mike Panasiuk, Kenny Willekes and Raequan Williams are gone.

While Panasiuk is a solid returning starter at end, the Spartans don’t have much proven depth outside of Naquan Jones. At the end spots, Drew Beesley and Jack Camper return and could provide some depth, but outside of them, there are redshirt freshmen Michael Fletcher and Adam Berghorst along with the Slade brothers.

That’s where Simeon Barrow Jr. could come into play.

Many were worried that he’d reopen his recruitment when more schools began showing interest, but he remained solid to Michigan State after committing and signed in the early period. He has impressive size at 6-foot-2 and 252 pounds and enough strength to contribute from day one.

Michigan State needs some help along the defensive line and this Georgia-native should give the Spartans a boost. He’s currently the Spartans’ highest-rated defensive line signee, listed as the No. 787 prospect in the 2020 class per 247Sports.
