Michigan State Football: 10 bold predictions for 2019 season

9. Offense ranks in the top 50

For most programs, this wouldn’t be a bold prediction, but given how poorly Michigan State’s offense performed in 2018, this will be met with plenty of doubt.

Michigan State finished the 2018 season with the nation’s 126th scoring offense, 115th in rushing, 78th in passing and 117th in total yards. It was a disaster of a season and the Spartans finished just +1 in turnover margin which meant that even with the defense playing at an elite level, the offense coughed the ball up far too much.

With Brad Salem taking over the offense and Brian Lewerke finally healthy, Michigan State will put up some points and finish in the top 50 nationally in a number of top categories, including scoring and total yards per game.

Going from 126th in scoring and 117th in total offense all the way to top 50 would be a miracle, but this team has the talent to have more than just a mediocre offense.
