1. The Spartans overlooked Indiana

Truer words may not have ever been spoken. Michigan State expected to just roll Indiana, but the Spartans came out flat and didn’t pick up the pace as the game progressed. The Spartans couldn’t seem to gain any momentum against the Hoosiers and the lack of effort was obvious throughout.

You could almost tell by Michigan State’s body language that the players were just expecting a big run like the team usually puts together, but it just never came.

Sure, Michigan State mounted a five-point lead in the second half and it looked like it would be all over from there, but two missed free throws halted any chance to momentum and Indiana marched back down to score. It was a game where nobody looked like they wanted to be there (outside of Cassius Winston and Kenny Goins) and it showed on the scoreboard.

College GameDay was in town, it looked to be a chance for the Spartans to smack a struggling team on a national stage in from of an excited home crowd and they got to hear all day long just how good they were as each analyst picked them to win, but they came out expecting just that.

Indiana had more fight, toughness and hustle all game long and came up with the big plays down the stretch to pull off the upset.
