3. Run game surpasses 250 total yards

The last time Michigan State rushed for over 250 yards, it had no problem handling Maryland on the road while the defense, too, was dominant.

The Spartans finished with 269 yards in that victory over the Terrapins which included a healthy 157 from sophomore Connor Heyward. The Spartans will need another outing like that from the ground game against Rutgers in order to come away with a nice season-concluding victory.

Rutgers possesses one of the worst run defenses in all of college football, allowing about 220 yards per game on the ground. This is music to the Spartans’ ears.

Michigan State will finish with over 250 yards for the second time in four games and it’ll, once again, be led by Heyward with 120 of his own. Rocky Lombardi will add 50 yards, La’Darius Jefferson will rush for 50, too, and Weston Bridges will get into the act with 40 of his own.

The Spartans won’t have any problems moving the ball against this defense on the ground.
