1. Mark Dantonio won’t let his guys roll over

Losing to Ohio State and officially falling out of the Big Ten title race, Michigan State teams of the past (ie. John L. Smith years) would have folded and mailed it in for the rest of the season.

There are still two games remaining and even though the Spartans lost to the Buckeyes for the third straight season, they’re not going to just roll over and let the Cornhuskers walk all over them. This would be the perfect time for a team to give up with bowl eligibility under their belts and no Big Ten title or Rose Bowl to play for, but Mark Dantonio won’t allow that to happen.

The Ohio State loss could be perfect for his team’s turnaround. He could use that defeat to fuel his team, reiterating that they beat themselves and not the other way around. His team could have taken down Ohio State to improve to 7-3 on the year, but costly mistakes were the difference.

Michigan State can still finish with an 8-4 regular season record and 9-4 overall mark. That would be a disappointment considering the preseason expectations, but that looks a whole heck of a lot better than 7-5 and 8-5 or 7-6.
