Nov. 30: at Rutgers

Big Ten play begins in November? That is correct, as Michigan State begins Big Ten play on the road against upstart Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights’ basketball program, unlike their football program, is on the rise — they gave the Spartans everything that could handle last
season.

Rutgers head coach Steve Pikiell knows what he is doing and he will have his team ready to play. However, the Spartans have more experience than last season and they won’t be caught off guard this time around. Michigan State wins by eight.

Prediction: Victory for MSU (7-1, 1-0)

Dec. 3: vs. Iowa

In the Big Ten home opener, the Spartans welcome in the Iowa Hawkeyes. Iowa has, from time to time, given Michigan State some trouble but not in East Lansing. Michigan State wins by 15 in a high-scoring affair.

Prediction: Victory for MSU (8-1, 2-0)

Dec. 10: at Florida

A trap game is what it appears to be as the Spartans travel south to gator territory. Florida is quietly building something special and they have some guards who can flat out play. Look for Michigan State to have an off shooting night and the Gators get the win in a low-scoring five-point victory against the Spartans.

Prediction: Loss (8-2)
