1. More consistency from Brian Lewerke

I’ve been one of the biggest Brian Lewerke supporters out there, and it’s hard not to be. When fans have been spoiled by elite quarterback play over the years, even the slightest bit of inconsistency and inaccuracy will have people up in arms over imperfect play.

While sometimes I think the criticism of Lewerke is unwarranted, he has had a rough couple of weeks due to some accuracy issues and poor decision-making.

The first two games of the year were encouraging. Despite losing to Arizona State, he seemed to be the only reason the Spartans were still in the game. Against Utah State, he was moving the ball down the field with relative ease, but in Week 4 against Indiana, he was off the mark on a number of his throws, which was the complete opposite of his first two games.

We can’t be upset with a 66 percent completion rate, but five touchdowns to five interceptions just won’t cut it. He needs to showcase more consistency with his decision-making and red zone effectiveness.
