3. Spartans record six sacks — again

Mark Dantonio said in his weekly press conference that he was pleased with his team’s pass rush and he expects the line to continue to dominate up front, opening up opportunities for linebackers to sneak in for sacks on blitz plays. He also stated that despite the four sacks Michigan State was credited with, he counted six on film as two were mis-credited as tackles for loss.

On Saturday, the Spartans will officially get those six sacks as age defensive line will get a nice push going yet again.

Raequan Williams and Mike Panasiuk are just too hard to handle in the middle and when they’re out of the game, Naquan Jones and Gerald Owens are just as tough to block one-on-one. Opposing linemen struggle to contain a handful of 300-pound guys with strength and athleticism.

As for the ends, Kenny Willekes is a superstar in the making and he’ll add two more sacks, coming just 0.5 shy of his total from last season. He’s been a menace this season and he’s only getting better. Jack Camper and Jacub Panasiuk, too, will have big impacts on the edge.

Michigan State will make life difficult for Tommy Lazzaro, making him run for his life.
