Michigan State football lost a commitment from three-star cornerback Jordan Huff from its 2019 class on Monday. What’s next?

Amid Michigan State’s string of commitments just last week, the Spartans lost a big part of their 2019 class in three-star cornerback Jordan Huff from Georgia.

Huff had originally committed to the green and white on Christmas Day, but he’d been getting more attention from some of the nation’s top programs recently which caused him to question his pledge. He took down the “Michigan State commit” from his Twitter bio a couple of weeks ago and denied a de-commitment, but this news doesn’t come as much of a shock.

The three-star corner is extremely talented, possessing a nose for the ball and quick-twitch abilities in the secondary. However, he seemed enamored by his recent visits to Louisville and Tennessee.

Losing the No. 449 player in the class isn’t easy to digest, but the Spartans loaded up in the past few classes and should be just fine. But that doesn’t mean they’re done looking for defensive backs.

The Spartans will now be searching for Huff’s replacement. Who could be on the radar?

Jaden Davis was a name that was expected to have a spot on Michigan State’s wish list, but cancelled his official visit and is committing in mid-July. Brandon Shivers was a guy who was close to committing, but the staff may have told him to wait on the decision and he wasted no time committing to San Diego State. The Spartans could use to flip him.

Other names to keep an eye on may not be at cornerback specifically, but safety is another position. Jalani Williams, a four-star from Saint Louis, could be added to the top of the board as well as Tykee Smith, a four-star from Pennsylvania.

The Spartans will find another talented player to fill this spot, but it hurts to lose a top defensive back from Georgia.
