Michigan State football commit Devontae Dobbs recently opened up about why he chose the Spartans over other top programs, including Michigan.

Some people wondered why Devontae Dobbs left Michigan off his list of top schools heading into the summer and no longer do they have to. The five-star offensive tackle from Belleville, Mich., opened up about why he chose MSU and said ‘no thanks’ to the rest of the field.

It may have been a curious situation as the No. 13 player in the class and second-best in-state recruit picked Michigan State without even really considering the Wolverines in the end.

Why was this?

Evan Petzold of ESPN1009 had a chance to speak to Dobbs and the five-star explained his reasoning for dropping Michigan, and he didn’t hold back.

"“It felt like Michigan thought they were superior and the big boss to Michigan State. They thought, ‘You have an offer from Michigan, so you should be going to Michigan since you have the offer.’ It was as if they didn’t need to recruit me or better their relationship with me. That was the first thing they did wrong.“When I went up there to talk to them, I felt uncomfortable because of the way they acted, talked and just were.”“The last meeting I was in, I told them they acted like robots and I just wasn’t comfortable around them. I said it wasn’t a place I wanted to be.”"

If that’s not the most honest quote from a recruit, outside of Denver Warren who claimed MSU didn’t excite him on his visit, then I don’t know what is.

The five-star offensive tackle didn’t pick other schools either because of the way they ‘lied’ to him and weren’t 100 percent honest or genuine. He claimed that Mark Dantonio kept it real with him and didn’t treat him any differently than he would be if he were to kick off fall camp as a freshman.

Jim Harbaugh is a little set in his ways and his recruiting tactics may not be for everyone, but he does get the job done more often than not. Clearly it didn’t work for Dobbs, though.
