Yes, Sam Johnson III could be back on the board for the Spartans. It seems like decades ago when the Spartans checked in on him last and that’s because Dwan Mathis had been committed since September. Johnson III could give Michigan State a serious look, and vice versa, once the dead period is over.

In unfortunate news for Michigan State, Johnson III has been committed to Boston College since May 7. The Walled Lake, Mich., product is teammates with current 2019 Spartan commit Spencer Brown and the two could be cooking something up.

Michigan State has not offered the in-state three-star quarterback, but Johnson III could soon be in contact with the staff. He would be quite the bounce-back from losing Mathis.

Although he seems to be 100 percent invested in Boston College, it’d be hard to say no thanks to Michigan State, especially when he has friends committed in 2019 as well. He’s ranked the No. 511 player and 19th-best pro-style player in the class. Let’s see if Brown can engineer a flip in the Spartans’ favor.
