Mark Dantonio’s 2019 class grew yet again on Friday night. The Spartans received a commitment from three-star athlete Tate Hallock, a legacy recruit, on Friday night. He’s the son of former Michigan State fullback Ty Hallock and brother of linebacker Tanner Hallock.

Hallock becomes the 11th commitment in the Spartans’ 2019 class, one that has grown exponentially over the past couple of months.

While he may not be the most exciting commitment, ranked No. 1,479 overall and 33rd in the state of Michigan, he is an impressive athlete. He can play both sides of the ball, safety and wide receiver, and finished his junior season with solid numbers. He had 779 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns as well as 81 tackles, three interceptions and three defensive touchdowns.

Looking for a player who can lay the lumber on defense as well as make plays on the ball and switch over to the offensive side and run quick-twitch routes and burn his defender deep.

One of his go-to routes as a receiver is a quick 5-10 yard button hook which he turns into a spin move and somewhat of a hitch-n-go. He’s athletic enough to pull the move off on a regular basis.

The Spartans are getting a strong athlete in Hallock. He may need a year of redshirting before he can truly adjust to the college ranks, but he has a chance to be a solid contributor for the Spartans and a potential two-way player.
