Michigan State football makes top 10 for 4-star DT Jowon Briggs
Michigan State football has made the cut for elite four-star 2019 defensive tackle Jowon Briggs from Cincinnati, Ohio.
Playing on the defensive line at Michigan State comes with lofty expectations. Mark Dantonio has done an excellent job of recruiting guys who can contribute right away up front and usually sends players to the NFL every couple of years along the defensive line.

Guys like Joel Heath, Shilique Calhoun, Marcus Rush, Malik McDowell, Lawrence Thomas and Will Gholston have all come through the program and are either on NFL rosters or have flirted with them over the past decade, or so.
So selling recruits on the ability to reach the NFL isn’t too difficult, especially for a prospect the caliber of four-star Jowon Briggs.
The Cincinnati, Ohio, native is listed as the No. 59 player in the 2019 class, fifth-best defensive tackle and second-best Ohio product, according to the 247Sports composite.
On Tuesday, he released a list of his top 10 schools in alphabetical order.
Briggs is a fairly low-key recruit who doesn’t reveal too much in terms of leaders or upcoming visits, and that’s evidenced by his low-profile top-10 list. Most recruits would have a big announcement for their top schools list followed by a flashy graphic, but Briggs kept a low profile.
The 6-foot-2, 275-pound defensive tackle from Ohio is coming off a Michigan State visit and that may have led to the Spartans making his cut.

Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State and Rutgers are the Big Ten programs still in the running and he also has three SEC programs (Kentucky, Alabama and Tennessee), two ACC programs (Virginia and Pitt) and a MAC school in Miami (OH) on his list.

Briggs may be the highest-ranked defensive prospect left on the board, in realistic manner, for the Spartans in 2019. He would create waves as a day one contributor if he were to pick MSU.
