The defensive line was addressed in the 2018 class, but not quite as much as the Spartans would have hoped. There’s still a chance Michigan State could land three-star defensive tackle Dashaun Mallory, but he delayed his decision until April.

One of the few signees, though, was three-star defensive end Parks Gissinger from West Hills, Calif. How underrated is he? He’s listed as the No. 1,242 prospect in the class by 247Sports  but ESPN was high enough on him to rate him as a four-star recruit.

Gissinger stands 6-foot-4 and weighs about 227 pounds. He could afford to bulk up a bit, but he’s about the same size as current defensive end Kenny Willekes. If Gissinger plays anything like Willekes, the Spartans will be in luck.

Watching his highlights, his motor is obvious and he has a quick first step. There’s a reason some services have him as a four-star prospect and he could have an immediate impact in East Lansing.
