Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo has been under fire of late, but Spartan legend Magic Johnson has voiced his support.

If you’ve been paying attention to headlines over the past week, you’d realize that Mark Dantonio and Tom Izzo have gone under fire for assault cases involving players during their tenures as head coaches at Michigan State.

ESPN‘s ‘Outside the Lines’ published a report that detailed each accusation of sexual assault and violence against women that has taken place over the past decade. Many of the cases resulted in a lack of charges by potential victims and others were already public knowledge as charged players had been removed from teams.

Despite the report stating what had already been public knowledge, the national outrage over the issues regarding violence against women was at an all-time high as it was released a day after Larry Nassar’s sentencing.

Some people have just read headlines and based their opinion off of just that while others have done the research and have agreed to withhold any criticism of Izzo and Dantonio until the facts come out via external investigations.

Magic Johnson, who has spent plenty of time around Izzo and the basketball program, voiced his support for the head coach and said that he wants to work with him to be part of the solution.

This is a big deal for Michigan State at a time of need, support-wise, as it’s not just Izzo who needs backing, but the student body and the survivors of Nassar.

Magic knows the type of character Izzo is and he didn’t hesitate to voice his support for the head coach who has been a leader at the university for years. Other players, current and former, have voiced their support for Izzo such as Delvon Roe and Cassius Winston as well.
