Michigan State basketball’s 2019 recruiting class has yet land its first commit, but here are seven early names to keep an eye on.

It’s hard to believe Michigan State’s 2018 recruiting class is already sewn up, but Tom Izzo has worked fast. He’s landed five strong players in the class in Foster Loyer, Thomas Kithier, Gabe Brown, Marcus Bingham Jr. and Aaron Henry.

Yes, that makes five freshmen coming in with the 2018 class to add to the already-potent attack the Spartans have with Cassius Winston, Josh Langford, Nick Ward and Xavier Tillman — that’s assuming Miles Bridges and Jaren Jackson Jr. declare for the NBA draft.

However, no 2019 recruits have committed to the Spartans but there are a number of top targets to watch for. There will likely be 2-3 spots available, potentially more depending on early departures and transfers, and Izzo has quite the array of talent to choose from.

Who are the Spartans’ top seven targets to keep an eye on in the loaded 2019 class?

This was a toss-up between Terry Armstrong, a four-star shooting guard formerly from Flint, and five-star point guard Tyrese Maxey. The difference? It seems as if Maxey is destined to join SMU when he commits next year and it’s because his father was hired by the school.

Armstrong moved to Arizona this past year and has been making a name for himself out west. He looks the part of one of the top guards in the 2019 class, standing 6-foot-6 and weighing in at 185 pounds. He’s strong enough to take the ball to the hoop and absorb contact as well as smart enough to find open teammates when his shot isn’t there.

The shooting guard was one of the Spartans’ top targets before he moved and it’ll be interesting to see if Tom Izzo makes him a priority now that he’s in Arizona.

Armstrong is ranked the No. 50 overall player in the class and is the eighth-best shooting guard, according to 247Sports.
