4. Bench finishes with two double-digit scorers

The bench has been on fire lately. There’s a reason why this group coming off the bench has been so successful and it’s because of the experience. The Spartans are more experienced and deep than a majority of teams in college basketball and that bench is riddled with former starters.

In fact, they have Matt McQuaid, Gavin Schilling, Tum Tum Nairn, Kenny Goins and Ben Carter who all have starting experience at some point in their careers. These guys have more starts than some Division 1 starting fives do.

Coming off a strong game against Maryland in which the bench perked up, we will see yet another strong showing from the guys off the pine. Two role players will finish in double figures against Ohio State on Sunday evening, but who will they be?

My first prediction is Matt McQuaid. He’s been gaining confidence lately and he’s a good bet to break 10 points. The other could be a guy like Gavin Schilling or Kenny Goins. The latter has developed his 3-point jumper and could cause problems for Ohio State’s defense and Schilling has yet to have a big game. Two of these guys will have at least 10 points.
