Michigan State football received its second commitment of the day on Friday as four-star offensive tackle James Ohonba committed.

For the second time on Friday, Michigan State football fans were using the hashtag “#V4MSU” as the Spartans reeled in another big fish. First, it was Elijah Collins, a three-star running back from Detroit, who committed to the green and white, but James Ohonba shocked many with his decision.

Before last weekend, not many fans knew the name James Ohonba, but he has become one of the more talked about recruits after his pledge to MSU’s 2018 class.

The big offensive tackle fills an immediate need for the Spartans and he is, in fact, a giant. He stands 6-foot-4 and weighs in at about 345 pounds. He is one of the biggest recruits Mark Dantonio has ever gone after and he could be a brick wall for opposing defensive linemen.

After his official visit to Michigan State last Saturday for the Notre Dame game, he knew East Lansing was where he wanted to be. He wasted no time making his decision, picking the green and white over the likes of Duke, Alabama, Arkansas, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tennessee, USC and Virginia Tech.

This was clearly a big victory for Dantonio and Co.

Michigan State’s 2018 recruiting class now sits at 17 pledges. Ohonba, the latest to join the party, is ranked the No. 307 recruit in the class and the 24th-best offensive tackle. The Stockbridge, Ga., native is a welcomed addition.
