Michigan State Football: 4-star RB Ronnie Walker visits Friday
Michigan State football received a visit from 2018 four-star running back Ronnie Walker from Hopewell, Va., on Friday.
It’s the time of year when recruits decide on last-second unofficial visits before it’s time to plan officials. For Michigan State football, a big name on the recruiting board decided to take a trip north to check out campus. Four-star running back Ronnie Walker was in East Lansing on Friday afternoon, per his Twitter.

This visit comes about six months after the Spartans initially offered Walker a scholarship and it could be a crucial one in his recruitment.
Not too long ago, the Spartans made the cut for Walker who is from a state in which the Spartans don’t often recruit well in. The last player from Virginia to commit to Michigan State was wide out Felton Davis III back in 2015. He is set to become a starter, potentially, for the Spartans this season.
Walker is one of the smaller running backs that Michigan State has recruited in the Dantonio era, standing just 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds, but he can move. Once he gets the edge on the defense, there’s really no stopping him.
Michigan State has had smaller, speedy backs before, such as Nick Hill, but Walker would be a nice change of pace from the L.J. Scott and Le’Veon Bell-types. However, don’t expect the Spartans to just land one running back in this class as Dantonio will likely be going after two — Harold Joiner is the top target right now.

Walker is listed as the No. 309 recruit in the 2018 class as well as the 13th-best running back, according to the 247Sports’ composite. He’s fallen a bit in the ranks over the past few months, but he has the potential of a top-100 player.
