Michigan State football will be getting a crucial visit from three-star defensive end James Head from Miami, Fla., on Wednesday.

With the 2018 recruiting class filling up quickly, Michigan State has been focusing on positions of need, and being more picky at those areas. Head coach Mark Dantonio may lead for one of his top defensive end targets, a major need, in three-star James Head from Miami, Fla.

The Spartans have already reeled in a couple of 2018 defensive end commits in Jacob and Zachary Slade, but could use more depth at the position.

According to Sean Scherer’s interview on 247Sports with teammate Randy Charlton, Head will accompany him to East Lansing on Wednesday.

Charlton, too, is a three-star from Miami, Fla., who is also considered a strong-side defensive end, but he could complement Head nicely. Could the two be considered a package deal in the 2018 class? If so, it seems as if the Spartans are in good shape to land the duo.

As an edge rusher, Head has the knack for causing major havoc in both the run and pass games.

The three-star end stands 6-foot-5 but is slight of frame, weighing in at about 215 pounds. While he could afford to add some muscle, but he has excellent burst off the ball and he’s got an incredibly high football IQ. In fact, there are multiple screens in his highlights which he read right off the snap and made a play on the ball.
