Michigan State football has made the cut for three-star 2018 wide receiver Joe Wilkins Jr. from North Fort Myers, Fla.

Adding its first receiver last week, Michigan State football’s 2018 recruiting class is eying even more additions to the corps in the coming months. Recently-offered Joe Wilkins Jr. could be a name to keep an eye on as he just named Michigan State in his list of top schools.

‘Tis the season of top schools lists and the Spartans have been making the cut for a number of top targets in recent weeks. Wilkins Jr. has been a more under-the-radar target, though, who hasn’t gotten as much exposure as other Michigan State receiver priorities.

The three-star North Fort Myers, Fla., native released his top 14 schools on Tuesday. Michigan State made the cut.

Notre Dame, Louisville, Kentucky, N.C. State, Arizona, Iowa State, South Carolina, Maryland, UCF, Western Kentucky, Appalachian State, East Carolina and Pitt also made the cut. The Spartans have had more recent success than the rest of the teams on the list, but the 3-9 season in 2016 may have changed their view among recruits.

Wilkins Jr. is a 6-foot-2, 175-pound receiver from Florida with impressive quickness, agility and hands. He can play both sides of the ball.

Although he has a slender frame, he has no problem making strong tackles on the defensive side of the ball and taking hits at receiver. He will have time to bulk up at the next level.
