Michigan State basketball star Miles Bridges was chosen No. 5 overall CBS Sports’ 2018 NBA Mock Draft.

The 2017 NBA Draft is already in the books and it didn’t take long for major publications to come out with a way-too-early 2018 mock. In fact, one has Michigan State basketball star Miles Bridges in its top five.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Bridges shocked the country when he announced he’d be returning for his sophomore year after a huge freshman season.

According to CBS Sports‘ ridiculously early 2018 NBA Mock Draft, the Celtics will be taking Bridges with the fifth overall pick. Here’s their reasoning:

"A possible lottery pick this year, Bridges will move up draft boards in next year’s weaker draft as a powerful and explosive athletic freak."

It’s tough to even imagine next year’s NBA Draft being any weaker than this year’s class as the end of the lottery was suspect, at best. The soon-to-be sophomore sensation is expected to have a huge year in the green and white and it won’t be all that surprising to see him picked in the top five.

Ahead of Miles, according to the mock, would be DeAndre Ayton (Arizona) at No. 1, Michael Porter Jr. (Missouri) No. 2, Luka Doncic (International) third and Mohamed Bamba (Texas) picked fourth.

Surprisingly, incoming freshman Jaren Jackson Jr. wasn’t included in the early mock draft despite being considered a likely one-and-done prospect. Near-Michigan State commit Brandon McCoy was projected No. 23 overall.
