Michigan State recruiting landed a top recruit for 2018 on Tuesday and here are the updated top five remaining basketball targets.

After landing one of the top targets on the board for 2018 Tuesday, Michigan State recruiting will look to add a few more to their already-loaded group. Gabe Brown’s commitment was big for Michigan State and it’s time to look at who else could, and should, join the class.

There could be up to six scholarships available following the 2017-18 season and if Tom Izzo doesn’t decide to spend one on a walk-on, he will have plenty of top talent to choose from.

Michigan State has rarely, if ever, reeled in a class of six top-level recruits, but that’s exactly what Izzo could be staring at next year. With plenty of departing players, including a couple of potential early NBA entrants, the Spartans could be looking to add a handful of stars.

Let’s take a look at the top five remaining 2018 basketball targets for Michigan State, kicking things off with an honorable mention.

Honorable Mention: Luguentz Dort, 5-star SG, Orlando (Fla.)

Reigning from Canada and playing in Orlando, Fla., Luguentz Dort was just offered by Michigan State last month and Izzo likes what he sees. While it’s a long-shot the Spartans land him, as evidenced by his “honorable mention” tag, he would be an ideal addition to the 2018 class.

Michigan State already has a point guard in Foster Loyer, power forward in Thomas Kithier and small forward in Gabe Brown. Adding Dort would fill another wing position as a shooting guard and he’s one of the more athletic players in the class at that position.

Dort has no issue running the floor and he handles the ball like a point guard. He can drive the lane and throw down. He’s strong-bodied and thick at 6-foot-4, 200 pounds. He’s not stocky, but he has plenty of muscle and would create serious matchup problems at the two-guard spot.

The Canada-native ranks No. 21 overall and as the third-best shooting guard in the 2018 class, according to 247Sports.
