Michigan State recruiting made the top five of three-star 2017 offensive tackle Blake Zubovic from Belle Vernon, Penn.

Despite being the most recent program to extend a scholarship, Michigan State made the top five of three-star offensive tackle Blake Zubovic from Belle Vernon, Penn.

Given his hometown, you can imagine that most of the schools on his list are close in proximity. In fact, his top five schools are mostly from the Big Ten and another is an in-state program.

Zubovic released his list on Twitter over the weekend.

Michigan State made the cut as well as Pitt, Penn State, Maryland and Virginia Tech. Right now, it looks like Pittsburgh is the favorite to land him, making this another Mark Dantonio vs. Pat Narduzzi battle — such as the one for three-star linebacker Kenny Bastida.

The Pennsylvania-native trimmed his list down to five despite holding offers from the likes of Boston College, Minnesota, N.C. State, Northwestern, Temple, Virginia and Kentucky. The Spartans seem to be in good shape, especially if they can get him on campus. However, it won’t be easy swiping him from his home state.

The 6-foot-4.5, 310-pound tackle is just what the Spartans need up front. He’s aggressive, goes to the whistle, can play both sides of the ball and has the ability to block defenders 5-10 yards down the field.

Zubovic is ranked the No. 447 prospect in the 2018 class as well as the 36th-best offensive tackle, according to 247Sports. He would fill a position of need for the Spartans.
