Michigan State recruiting’s top remaining 2017 target, Brian Bowen, is reportedly taking an unofficial visit to Oregon.

At this point, nothing should be a surprise. Michigan State is patiently awaiting the decision of Brian Bowen before moving forward with the official 2017-18 roster.

However, the five-star small forward seems to be in no hurry to make that decision. Claiming a few weeks ago that he would “100 percent” be announcing in April, Bowen is now looking at a May decision, but he may have more schools to choose from.

Bowen’s top five are N.C. State, Texas, Michigan State, Arizona and Creighton, but he recently visited DePaul (where his La Lumiere coach was hired) and now reportedly Oregon.

In an interview last week, Bowen said that he was taken back a bit by Miles Bridges’ decision to stay and he also said that a couple of schools had reached out to him. Florida State and Oregon were mentioned, but he said he was focusing on the same five. Clearly, Oregon peaked his interest.

The Ducks are coming off a Final Four run, but are losing a number of star players and could use a guy who would come in and score right away. Bowen wants to do just that, making the fit nearly perfect.

On the other hand, Tom Izzo’s squad could almost guarantee him a deep run in March with a stacked roster, but he wouldn’t star as a true freshman. The decision might come down to schools like Creighton, DePaul and Oregon.
