An average performance by the running back by committee as they are still trying to find a go to guy and put together a consistent rushing performance. The leading rusher on the day was Gerald Holmes, who finished with 83 yards and does appear to be seperating himself from the pack. Nine offense players ran the ball for a grand total of 141 yards.

Madre London is coming off of injury, Delton Williams still seems rusty, and LJ Scott is having ball security problems as he fumbled twice yesterday. Holmes seemed to be the odd man out at the beginning of the season behind London and Scott.

The roles have now reversed, as Holmes is the best in pass protect, which is proven to be highly necessary in keeping Cook healthy, and he seems to always break a tackle or two with to gain the extra yards with his hard north south running.

When Cook went out it became obvious that the Spartans were looking to run the ball and get out of the game with the victory. This put much more pressure on the running game to perform against a defense that was geared up to stop it as there was no threat of the pass.

While as a group they were over 100 yards for the game and they did control the clock/have a touchdown drive when put in a tough situation, to beat Ohio State much more than an average performance will be needed.
