4. Madaris emerges as No. 2 WR

Watching this Michigan State offense can be frustrating at times because there is no clear No. 2 receiver to speak of. After Aaron Burbridge broke out to begin the 2015 campaign with three straight 100-yard games, Michigan State new that it would have to find a guy to complement him.

It seemed as if Macgarrett Kings Jr. would fit into that No. 2 role nicely, but he has dropped off a ton since the first couple of games and R.J. Shelton has been inconsistent. DeAnthony Arnett has so much potential, but for whatever reason, it’s just not showing on the field.

Enter, Monty Madaris.

The junior receiver was highly-regarded out of high school and he has shown the ability to really get open and use his strong hands to his advantage. He has been nursing a thigh injury all season long and Saturday’s game against Purdue was his first real action of the year.

Madaris performed well enough to garner some “oohs and ahhs” with a nice 34-yard catch over the middle of the field and his uncanny ability to run routes with ease and leave the defensive backs in the dust.

I think he will really emerge as the No. 2 target for Connor Cook in the wide receiving corps since no one else really wants to step up.
