Michigan State vs Purdue: 5 bold predictions

2. Montae Nicholson will silence doubters
Staying in the secondary, I predict a much-improved game for Montae Nicholson. His struggles have been thoroughly discussed and will now be briefly mentioned. Poor tackling, poor angles and missed coverages have led to a disappointing start for the true sophomore.

Montae was benched in the game against Central Michigan which will be his wake-up call. Instead of attempting to make the big play, which he may be trying to do too much, Nicholson will simply do his job. There will be no blown coverages, no missed open field tackles, and no poor angles to the line of scrimmage.
The young safety has a good head on his shoulders and spoke highly of Coach Dantonio before the season began, praising his mentor for giving him the opportunity to start on this defense. He will finally wake up and answer the call after a week of watching the ugliest game film he has ever seen of himself.
For Michigan State to reach its full potential, it has to have Montae playing at a high level. While against Purdue he will not fill the stat sheet, or make a jaw dropping play, I predict that he will have a sound game which will not cause Spartan Nation to throw their hands up in disbelief that he missed another easy play.
