5. Can the Spartans stop Jarvion Franklin?

It may seem like a relatively easy task as Jarvion Franklin is just a second-year runhing back who dominated MAC opponents last year. However, he did rush for over 1,500 yards and 24 touchdowns, becoming a Freshman All-American.

Western Michigan’s offensive line returns three starters as well as its tight end from last season, so Franklin has already developed trust with the big guys in front of him.

Can Michigan State’s elite defensive front-seven stop the talented rusher from breaking the 100-yard mark?

In my opinion, yes. While he may break a couple 10-plus yard runs, he will be limited to 60 yards by the Michigan State defense.

Shilique Calhoun, Joel Heath, Malik McDowell and Lawrence Thomas will swallow up the running back and if he does make it to the second level, Riley Bullough, Chris Frey, Jon Reschke and Darien Harris will stuff the hole.

Remember what this defense did to Nebraska‘s Ameer Abdullah last season? It stuffed the current NFL back, holding him to under 50 yards on about two yards per carry. Franklin should be no problem.
