Hall of Famers just keep doing Hall of Fame things, no matter the age. On Wednesday, 70-year-old Tom Izzo, who rival fans have dubbed “washed”, landed his third commitment in the 2026 class.

Jasiah Jervis verbally committed to Michigan State over NC State, Pitt, and Tennessee on Wednesday, giving Izzo his third four-star of the class and another top-50 guy. It feels like he’s always recruiting at a high level, but the 2026 class just feels a little different.

Carlos Medlock Jr. was the first commit over the summer, and the four-star point guard has been one of the fastest-risers in the entire class. He’s expected to be Izzo’s next great point guard, and he has all the tools to be a great leader and overall player. Expectations for Medlock are through the roof, and he’s helped the class with some recruiting of his own.

A couple of months later, Julius Avent, a four-star power forward, committed to Michigan State and became one of those under-the-radar prospects. He’s still a top-100 recruit, but he wasn’t quite as lauded as some of Michigan State’s other targets.

And finally, on Wednesday afternoon, Michigan State landed Jervis who is the highest-rated commit for the Spartans, and it gives Izzo a third top-80 commit.

Before Jervis’ commitment, Michigan State had the No. 27 class in the country. Now, Michigan State is all the way up to No. 4 and it’s just one of two Big Ten teams to have a top-10 class. The other is Michigan at No. 10 — Michigan State has the best class in the conference.

The scary part? Izzo isn’t done yet.

The “washed” 70-year-old head coach just won a Big Ten title by three games, made an Elite Eight, and now he’s about to land a top-five recruiting class.

Izzo might just coach until he’s 80 at this rate.
