When Tre Holloman hit the transfer portal, I think Michigan State basketball fans everywhere were in complete shock. Holloman seemed to love the program and his defense of the senior day tradition had him being labeled as a lifetime fan favorite and he could legitimately do no wrong in the eyes of Spartan faithful.

This Holloman love carried over into the NCAA Tournament, and when he had one of the worst games of his career in an Elite Eight loss to Auburn, fans came to his defense immediately.

Two days later, he was in the transfer portal.

The early assumptions were that he left for a better NIL deal and fans felt justified in that belief when he chose NC State. However, reports surfaced that he wanted more of a starting point guard role somewhere else, so when he chose NC State, it made sense. Will Wade was rebuilding the program and Holloman looked like the perfect bridge point guard until he gets his guy in 2026.

As the projected starting point guard for the Wolfpack, it looked like he finally got his wish for his final collegiate season -- until Friday.

On3 projected NC State to land the No. 1 point guard left in the transfer portal on Friday as an expert logged a prediction for the Wolfpack to land PJ Haggerty.

Haggerty is the top player left in the transfer portal and he starred for a solid Memphis team that made the NCAA Tournament and beat Michigan State in the regular season. He's going to be the starting point guard now, especially since that's what he wanted, while Holloman will have to revert back to the two-guard role or come off the bench as a point.

Either way, his role at NC State figures to be the exact same or maybe even a little less point guard duties than he had in East Lansing.

I don't know about you, but to me, it seems like Holloman was lied to about his role at NC State.
